Upstream flash floods and heavy rainfall led to the collapse of the Khowai River embankment in the Kaliganj area of Laskarpur Union, Habiganj Sadar. Water levels reached 130 cm above the danger mark at the Balla point. The breach submerged at least 20 villages and threatened road connectivity on the Dhuliakhal-Mirpur road, while also causing extensive damage to crops, ponds, and fisheries. Government officials have inspected the site and promised to implement permanent remedial projects and immediate temporary repairs using geo-bags.
