Mentally imbalanced woman gives birth on the side of Dhaka-Barishal Highway; newborn placed in 'Chotomoni Nibash'

A mentally imbalanced woman gave birth to a baby girl on the side of the Dhaka-Barishal highway near Bhurghata bus stand in Kalkini, Madaripur, on May 29, 2026. The mother and newborn were rescued and hospitalized by local authorities. On June 1, 2026, the local court ordered the child to be placed in the government-run 'Chotomoni Nibash' in Barishal for her safety, while the mother was released to her family's care.
