Dangerous condition of the Birinchi-Sonapur Bridge in Feni

The 50-60 year old Birinchi-Sonapur bridge (also known as Birinchi Bridge) over the Kumrachhara Canal in Feni is in a severely dilapidated state with structural cracks, a large hole, and exposed rebar, posing a significant daily risk to 25,000-30,000 residents of Feni Municipality and Kazirbag Union. The bridge shakes when vehicles cross it, preventing heavy transport and limiting emergency access. Local authorities have proposed building a new 12-meter girder bridge to replace the current structure.
