Power plant oil waste polluting Sangu River via Maillya canal

Furnace oil sludge from the Dohazari-Kaliyaish 100MW power plant is discharging into the Maillya canal, polluting the Sangu River in Satkania, Chattogram. This discharge has negatively impacted local agricultural land and aquatic biodiversity. Cleanup efforts have been initiated by the plant management following complaints, and the Department of Environment is investigating.
