The iconic tourist hanging bridge in Rangamati was submerged on September 11, 2026, due to rising water levels in Kaptai Lake caused by continuous rainfall and mountain runoff. Authorities have closed the bridge indefinitely for public safety, and 16 gates of the Kaptai Dam spillway were reopened to manage water levels.
