Kaptai dam spillway reopened after four days due to rising water levels

Due to increased water in Kaptai Lake from upstream runoff, 16 spillway gates of the Kaptai Dam in Rangamati were reopened by 6 inches each on September 11, 2026, at 8:00 AM. This measure, taken as water levels reached 105.51 feet MSL, aims to prevent further flooding in low-lying areas and riverbank erosion. This is the second time the spillways have been opened this year.
