High prevalence of Shigella infection among children in Dhaka

Research by ICDDR,B indicates that Shigella infections among children in Dhaka are significantly under-detected by traditional laboratory methods. qPCR testing reveals an 11.6% infection rate, which is double that of traditional methods, with a concerning rise in multi-drug resistant strains.
